10 Greatest Rock Music Guitar Solos Of The 2010s

1. 7empest - Tool

Fans of Tool had to endure years and years of jokes about their favourite band not releasing any music, as the years ticked by without any news emerging of anything new. Then, in 2019, 13 years after their last record, it happened.

Tool released Fear Inoculum. And it was amazing.

Despite only containing seven songs, only one of them is under ten minutes long, with the longest being its 15-minute conclusion, 7empest, which is pronounced like “Tempest”.

Much of 7empest’s gargantuan runtime is devoted to the electric guitar, with some truly amazing solos finding a home in between Maynard James Keenan’s singing. Guitarist Adam Jones has a field day showing off all the practice he’d been doing over the last 13 years, giving one of his best ever performances.

It’s impossible to pick just one of the solos here, as they’re all part of a large mission statement by the song, but if you drop in at any random moment during 7empest, you’re bound to hear something spectacular.

Although, why you wouldn’t just listen to the whole song is a mystery.
