10 Greatest Shock Rock Acts
7. Ghost
Ghost is by far the newest entry of shock rockers in the industry today. This Swedish outfit is a project headed by Tobias Forge, who started the group to realize his dream for a classic metal band.
The band's studio track record has yielded many spooky triumphs from the chamber music stylings on Opus Eponymous to the stadium-rock grandeur of their latest release Prequelle. The band's aesthetic is drenched in a spectral, Satanic coating which fits the music to a tee. In addition to their music, the band dawns various ghoul outfits onstage with Forge himself playing the role of Satanic religious leader Cardinal Copia (formerly Papa Emeritus.) Along with these ominous undercurrents, Forge's bandmates have never revealed their identities in order to keep up the growing mythology behind the group.
Aside from their gimmicks, the band's music also remains incredibly captivating with their unique way of crafting fantastic odes to death and destruction across the world. The band shows no signs of slowing down as Forge continues to pull from the metal sounds of old from Sabbath to Deep Purple. In the age where nothing seems shocking, Ghost remains a band to keep your ears and eyes fixated on.
