10 Greatest Unplugged Albums In Rock History
3. The Freewheelin Bob Dylan - Bob Dylan
Considering how far we've come in terms of blending musical genres, it almost doesn't make sense to create a song with just an acoustic guitar. Hell, even when Ed Sheeran tries something like that today, there's still tons of effects added in to make sure the whole thing feels a lot larger than some dude with a guitar singing. Back before rock and roll got accepted though, sometimes an acoustic guitar was all you needed if you had the songs to back it up.
Way before he went electric, Bob Dylan's second album offered the counterculture a lot more to work with than just the peace and love movements that we were used to seeing from back in the day. Starting with Blowin in the Wind, there's a lot that Dylan's got on his chest in this record, whether it's talking about the bitter heartbreak that he's been through on Don't Think Twice It's All Right or jumping on a traveling beat for a track like Oxford Town.
Even with the time that has passed, the lyrics that Dylan paints on this record have remained relevant to this day, with Masters of War not being that far off from the greed that many people have seen across the world. Either Dylan is the modern day Nostradamus, or we haven't budged that much since the early days.
