10 Greatest Unplugged Rock Songs

8. Patience - Guns N Roses

Looking back on the hair metal revolution, a power ballad is just one of those things that you sort of accept as a rock fan. Even though it's not nearly as heavy as the traditional bangers, these are the songs that you can hold your lighters up for and take things down a notch. When you're the World's Most Dangerous Band though, you go the extra mile just a little bit more.

It's almost odd that Patience actually turned out as well as it did, coming from just a random EP to soothe fans over while Guns N Roses worked on their next album. You can tell that the guys captured magic in the studio though, with the producer originally placing them in a circle around each other to let the music breathe.

As much as Slash gets the credit for the guitar chops in this band, this moment belongs to Izzy Stradlin, whose rhythmic pulse is much more suited to this sort of love song.

Compared to the kind of love song we got out of something like Sweet Child O Mine, this is a much different side of Axl Rose as well, feeling more wounded from being misunderstood time after time. Even for a life that was all about living on the edge, you sometimes need songs like this to ease your mind.
