10 Guilty Pleasure Albums Nobody Will Admit That They Love

3. Avril Lavigne €“ Let Go

What do you mean I've got something in my eye? No I don't. It's just... it's just a damn cold night, all right? Oh, Avril. You used to know exactly which heart strings to tug on. But then you had to go and make things all complicated by growing up while repeatedly attempting to musically recreate your younger, edgier years. You're thirty-one now, Avril. You shouldn't be titling songs things like €œBitchin' Summer€ and €œHere's To Never Growing Up€. If only we could go back to 2002 when Let Go was released. Lavigne might have been edgy with all of the edges sanded off, but the world loved it. From Complicated to Sk8er Boi to I'm With You, it was tough not to get at least one track stuck in your head. These days Avril Lavigne has mostly lost what made her endearing in the first place. Her lack of self-awareness has starved her music of appeal and for many, marrying Chad Kroeger was the final nail in the coffin (despite the fact they've now divorced). Yet Avril's early hits remain a pleasure, even if admitting so is tantamount to musical treason.
