10 Hard Rock Albums Artists Want You To Forget About

7. Vapor Trails (1st Edition) - Rush

The idea of Rush actually recovering after Neil Peart's exile in the late '90s was nothing short of a miracle. After losing both his wife and daughter within the span of a year, it was a long road before the drumming legend even thought about playing drums again, let alone writing an entire record of material. Though miracles did happen in the form of Vapor Trails, you do feel that pain if you get the first version of the record.

Like so many other bands at the turn of the '00s, the initial mix of this record fell victim to the loudness wars, which made every artist try to blow out your eardrums every time you listened to their music. For as amazing as songs like Ghost Rider and One Little Victory are on their own, the sheer power behind the mixing is enough to trigger headaches after only a few minutes. Even some of the slower songs like How It Is are a bit of a harsh listen coming off of your average Rush works like Test For Echo.

By the time a decade had past though, these prog giants seemed to realize it too, with a new mix being put up on streaming platforms with everything in its right place. Considering you can hardly even find the original mixes anymore out in the wild, it's safe to say that Rush have completely washed their hands of their little mixing mistake.
