10 Hard Rock Albums That Are Hated By The Fans
9. One More Light - Linkin Park
As the 2010's started to turn a corner, Linkin Park were finally starting to get back in touch with their metallic roots. Even though records like A Thousand Suns may have divided their fanbase a lot more than they would have liked, The Hunting Party was the record that put them back in line with their nu metal fanbase. According to Mike Shinoda, this was supposed to bring the attitude back into rock and roll, and once they restored their legacy, they took a nosedive from rock and roll entirely.
That's not to say that One More Light is a horrible record from back to front. It's just that no fan of Linkin Park was really asking for this at the time, trading in the heavy guitars from the last record for buzzy synths and a glittery pop sheen that wouldn't feel that out of place on a Chainsmokers album. Over the course of this album, you'd swear you're listening to an entirely different band than the guys behind Numb and A Place For My Head, even when Chester's lyrics haven't changed from pretty dark subjects.
It's also a shame that this was the last record that the core lineup got to make with Chester behind the mic, as he passed away just a few months after the record's release. Even though this was the unintended swan song for the original incarnation of Linkin Park, it stings that it doesn't have the same identity that most of the fans remember from them.
