10 Hard Rock Albums That Are Worse Than You Remember

6. Theatre of Pain - Motley Crue

For anyone who wasn't there, the hair metal movement taking place in the early '80s felt like one of the most over the top genres known to man. Though acts like David Bowie and T. Rex had really made the glam scene their own in the '70s, the likes of Poison and Winger strutting their stuff on MTV was where it started to get absolutely ridiculous. Then again, you've reached another level of low when even the band won't defend their own work.

Shortly after coming off the tour for Shout at the Devil, Motley Crue went straight back into the studio to work on Theatre of Pain. In the studio with them though were drugs...a LOT OF DRUGS. Having more money than they knew what to do with, the Crue spent most of the sessions trying to chase their next fix, which made most of the songs on this record feel hollow when compared to their previous output.

Though they were able to scrape together bits and pieces of hits like the power ballad Home Sweet Home, most of the record was padded out with filler, with Vince Neil going so far as to say he doesn't remember any of the other songs on the record. Seeing how albums like Dr. Feelgood were just on the horizon though, Theatre of Pain is just a slight stumbling block in between the classics.
