10 Hard Rock Albums That Are Worse Than You Remember
7. Devil Without a Cause - Kid Rock
It seems that every rock fan who came of age in the '00s has that one nu metal band that they don't want to talk about. With each passing year, it seems like the era of detuned guitars and singers complaining about their problems seems to grow staler and staler, especially from the likes of acts like Limp Bizkit and Puddle of Mudd. Though we did get some saving graces like Linkin Park and Deftones, more often than not we got stuck with Kid Rock on MTV.
Compared to the more seasoned vets of the genre like Korn and even Rage Against the Machine, Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause became the one record that managed to reach stations around the world thanks to Bawitdaba, one of the stupidest choruses ever made. That's before you even get into the rest of the record, as Kid brags about his money, drug problems, and his dream of becoming a Detroit Cowboy Pimp.
Though you do get the occasional decent line on songs like I Am the Bullgod, this dirty time capsule from the turn of the century managed to become one of the biggest rock albums in history, selling numbers that rivaled Nirvana's Nevermind. While rock will never fully die out, this was a sign that we were headed for a very dark place.
