10 Hard Rock Albums That Were Worth The Wait
9. Creeper - Eternity, In Your Arms
Raised on a diet of AFI, Alkaline Trio and MCR, Creeper's debut self-titled EP caused a small boom in their early career, resulting in tours with UK giants Funeral For a Friend, Gallows and a spot at Download Festival 2015.
With each subsequent EP, excitement for the band increased exponentially, eventually to the point of cynicism. The British alternative music boom of the late 2000s/early 2010s brought about a plethora of artists who all seemed destined for wondrous things; Gnarwolves, Hawk Eyes, Malefice, Heaven's Basement, they were lauded for their style and character, but all fell short of the expectations bestowed upon them.
With a run-up promo that included band members going "missing" and tapping into local Southampton folklore, anticipation was up to the nth degree as Eternity, In Your Arms was released in March 2017.
The album was an astounding success, both critically and aesthetically. Rousing and emotional gothic punk that wore its influences on its sleeve whilst giving them a modern refresh, Eternity... is equal parts fit for a house party as it is for a funeral. It was also deemed a win for the UK alternative scene as a Roadrunner Records release and high rankings in end of year lists saw the band get the recognition they were seen to deserve.
