10 Hard Rock Albums With Only One Bad Song

7. Quick And To The Pointless - Queens Of The Stone Age

There's absolutely no one questioning the punk rock credibility of Queens of the Stone Age. Though you'd be hardpressed to really fine a straight line between Josh Homme's brainchild and something like the Sex Pistols, the kind of feral energy brought across on albums like Rated R were as suited to bands like Black Flag as they were to contemporaries like Radiohead. When they wanted to fly off the handle though, things could get a bit too hectic on Quick and to the Pointless.

Serving as a bit of a chaotic interlude in between the other fantastic tracks on Rated R, this little freakout hardcore jam sounds like it was just thrown together in a couple minutes, as Nick Oliveri takes the lead for the second time around. As much as Oliveri proved himself to be a fantastic songwriter on songs like Auto Pilot, this is where things just get weird, as he talks about perving on an underage girl.

Then again, maybe the skeaziness of this song might be the point, as the sudden rush of instrumentation puts you in the mind of this deranged man fantasizing about girls on the street. In that case, QOTSA succeeds with flying colors, but as far as something that you want to listen to over and over again, you'd probably be better sticking with No One Knows.
