10 Hard Rock Bands That Destroyed Their Own Career

2. Guns N Roses

When any rock band gets big, there's bound to be some egos flaring up every now and again. Once you've had that first taste of fame, it's pretty hard to maneuver the rock star lifestyle without getting a little bit of stars in your eyes from time to time. On the other hand, there's the divas of rock and roll...and then there's Axl Rose.

After making one hell of an impression with Appetite for Destruction, the next major piece of work for Guns N Roses resulted in the Use Your Illusion albums, which had brilliance put alongside some of the more questionable cuts of the group's career. Though anyone can wash their hands of an album, the ensuing tour was every bit the trainwreck as you would expect. While the shows themselves remained extravagant, it became more and more troublesome to manage Axl, who would either cut the sets short due to vocal problems or just not show up at all depending on his mood.

By the time they got to the end of the tour, Slash and Duff MaKagan were strung out on drugs, while Izzy Stradlin had already quit because he could no longer take the tyrant behind the mic. In just a few more months, the rest of the group followed suit, with Rose left as the sole original member. Though they may have been hailed as the future of rock, all it takes is a little money to turn this gang of misfits into the Axl Rose Show (feat. Guns N Roses).
