10 Hard Rock Bands That Made The Same Song Twice
6. Falling In Reverse - I'm Not A Vampire
Falling in Reverse have been yoyoing in and out of the rock scene's consciousness ever since singer Ronnie Radke formed them from his prison cell in 2008. Starting out as the mid-ground between MCR and Skid Row, the band eked out a name for themselves with the success of their debut album The Drug in Me Is You (2011).
While the record had a surprisingly fruitful five singles, the songs that made the group's name were the title track and, of course, I'm Not a Vampire. Flirty, silly and seriously tongue-in-cheek, the guitars are punchy, the vocals self-consciously angsty, and Radke mills his way around the video like the tattooed younger sister of Liza Minnelli. And the song grew legs long enough to support the band through many ups, downs and further run-ins with the law.
Then, in 2021, Radke came out of left-field/lockdown and landed a touch-down with the operatic, piano-led I'm Not a Vampire (Revamped). The track takes the original concept and runs with it, pairing the new recording with a gothic video (starring AEW's Saraya) which is essential viewing to get the full thrust of Radke's new vision.
Some of the original's sillier lines don't translate well to a slow, serious piece of rock opera -- "I feel like a lady that is pregnant with a baby 'cos I'm always throwing up" taking pole position here -- but overall the song is a showcase for the band's newfound musical maturity.
