10 Hard Rock Bands That Should Be In The Hall Of Fame (But Aren't)

7. New York Dolls

Rounding off our punk trilogy are one of the original pioneers of the style - the Big Apple's own New York Dolls.

Formed by Billy Murcia and Sylvain Sylvain (not his real name), the Dolls became one of the earliest cult bands when their album Too Much Too Soon became an underground hit amongst those tired of the conventional rock scene.

Legend of their heavy playing style and unorthodox lyrics spread like wildfire, and they quickly became one of the most talked-about bands by those in the know.

Sadly, none of this translated to any actual money being made, but you can't win 'em all.

It was only many years after their prime that the band got the praise they deserved. Elements of punk and hair metal could be found in their music long before those genres became popular, leading many to reappraise the group.

The band have actually been passed over for induction three times since their first nomination in 2001, which is three times too many.

The Stooges and The Velvet Underground are already in there, so the Hall needs to do the right thing and complete the set.
