10 Hard Rock Bands Who Never Made A Bad Album
4. Muse
Muse is one of those few acts who have zero fear when it comes to experimenting. No matter what album you pick from these guys, you're going to end up getting something different, with bits and pieces from genres like electronica, arena rock, and alternative music. Not every Muse album necessarily sounds the same, but none of the band's core albums could ever be considered duds either.
Though you can tell the band were finding their feet in the beginning, albums like Origin of Symmetry and Absolution showed them hitting the ground running, with riffs like 'New Born' and 'Plug In Baby' becoming instant classics. Hitting a peak with Black Holes and Revelations, the band's decision to lean into the synthetic elements of their sound paid off in spades, with albums like The 2nd Law and The Resistance tastefully mixing synthesizers with an almost Queen-like sense of grandeur.
As the band has made their way into the next decade, albums like Drones and Simulation Theory show them progressing into even greater directions, from the former's return to loud guitars to the latter's doubling down on the '80s synth pastiches. It's always a bit risky reaching outside of your comfort zone, but over a 20 year career, these space rock kings have practically struck gold every time.
