10 Hard Rock Bands With KILLER Live Shows
9. Rage Against the Machine
The start of the '90s didn't really have the best live show game. Though the sounds of alternative rock were certainly a welcome change of pace from the metal scene, no one was really talking about the technical mastery behind Nirvana's set lists or the dejected look of the Smashing Pumpkins' latest show. Even with all the jaded rock star attitude in the live setting, Rage Against the Machine packed one hell of a punch every time you saw them perform.
From the first note that rings out at their concert, you can tell that every one of these guys is absolutely sold on what they're doing, as if they are four musical soldiers out on the frontlines leading their army of fans. Though the message of their music has been golden throughout the years, the way that Zack de la Rocha commands the audience is something that just can't be captured on record.
In lieu of the great adlibs available in the studio, Zack feels much more in his element onstage, as he tries to make an epiphany go off in every listener's head with each line he spits. Even more impressive is Tom Morello, who uses his maniacal effects pedals to the fullest extent, making it sound even weirder than it was on the record. While some people may gawk at their own personal favorite bands of the '90s, no one can deny that revolution was in the air every time Rage hit the stage.
