10 Hard Rock Bands With KILLER Live Shows

8. Def Leppard

As the New Wave of British Heavy Metal gave way to the glammy fashion of the Sunset Strip, there was no one better than Def Leppard. For as much as the Motley Crues and Poisons of the world claimed dominance over the state of California, Leppard seemed to have the world at their feet when they released their one-two punch of Pyromania and Hysteria. By the time they got down to tour, the festival circuit seemed too big. It was time to graduate to the round.

On the surface, the idea of having fans all around is one of the most difficult performances to pull off, with little room for error on any side. However, Leppard emerged onto the scene like seasoned veterans, with almost every man having his own unique stage presence, from the screaming vocals of Joe Elliot to the punk rock attitude and accurate precision of Steve Clark and Phil Collen.

Even after Rick Allen lost his arm in a tragic auto accident, his return to the drum throne at the Monsters of Rock festival put him in the upper echelons of drummers the world over. Def Leppard were definitely going to be one of the greatest acts of the hair metal movement, but with almost 4 decades under their belt, they have pushed themselves that much further into one of rock's true giants.
