10 Hard Rock Cover Songs That Are Better Than The Original

4. Live and Let Die - Guns N Roses

After the blockbuster album Appetite for Destruction, Guns N Roses seemed to be getting more extravagant by the minute. With Axl Rose trying to fulfill some imaginary rock and roll fantasy for himself, the following albums Use Your Illusion I and II provided a peek into just about every facet of GNR that you would want, from country-esque songs to 9 minute power ballads to down and dirty rock and roll. Though there is certainly some filler to go around, Live and Let Die is one of those moments where all of the pompous moves felt warranted.

As the tune fades in with Slash's guitar, Rose remains pretty faithful to the original version...until you get to the main drop of the song. Instead of the typical orchestral suite you got out of Paul McCartney's original Bond soundtrack theme, the heavy crunch seems to be telling a different story. Gone is the mystery of the spy world of Bond...this is the sound of the rock and roll dream turning into a nightmare.

It would also get all too real when GNR eventually went on tour to promote this record, where they incited riots, didn't play at all, and eventually broke up when returning back home. Live and Let Die might have signaled the darkest days that this band would endure, but if this marked the end, this is one hell of a final bow.
