10 Hard Rock Debut Albums That Suck
8. Peter Criss - Peter Criss
At the end of the '70s, the original lineup of KISS was really starting to get cracks in it. After their venture into the world of acting on KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park led to one of the most unwatchable rock and roll movies imaginable, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss were ready to hang up their makeup and costumes for good. To put a bandage over the situation, management thought it would be best if everyone cut their own separate solo albums.
While Frehley's ended up being the most successful out of them all, Peter Criss' debut still lives in rock infamy. Compared to the others, Peter had the most unique voice, with a rasp just sharp enough to rival someone like Rod Stewart. Instead though, we got treated to mostly soul music on this solo outing, with Criss using an outside co-writer on nearly every song.
To his credit, Peter does give a fantastic vocal performance on every one of these tracks...it's just a shame that they're not good songs. Even the KISS army couldn't really find it in themselves to compliment it, with the massive fan reception being either confusion or outright hatred right off the bat. The Catman may be a blast to watch while onstage, but this goes to show you that not all of his nine lives need to be in the spotlight.
