10 Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Bands That WILL Headline Download Festival

7. Linkin Park W/ Mike Shinoda On Vocals

Wounds need time to heal and people obviously need time to grieve, but as we've already seen with the phenomenal "Linkin Park & Friends" memorial gig and Mike Shinoda's incredibly raw EP where he opens up about Chester Bennington's passing, there are parts of the band that will always want to perform.

More than that, a chance tweet from Shinoda confirmed both he and the rest of the band actively want to continue as Linkin Park - they just don't know exactly how yet.

My answer? Get Shinoda on vocals. The guy is an incredible singer and has proven himself multiple times in the past. Anything more scream-focused or notably out of his range can be handled by the crowd if need be, with Mike delivering his rap passages and verse vocals alongside.

This approach to a gig would work best as a one-off, especially for a slot like headlining Download, and as Shinoda has been very open about what he and the band are going through, the majority of people are already willing him and Linkin Park to come back.

Note: Yes, Linkin Park headlined in 2011 and 2014 under their original lineup, but understandably this would be an altogether different beast.
