10 Hard Rock Live Albums You Need To Hear
4. Live Killers - Queen
Throughout their career, Queen were known for all of their sonic trickery in the studio. No matter where they were in their discography, the band used the studio to the fullest extent to create soundscapes that the rock world had never heard before. They may have been technical wizards, but the live stage is where they did the most damage.
Long before their monumental showcase at Live Aid, Live Killers is the real beginning of Queen as rock and roll's greatest live band. The entire record practically runs as a greatest hits record, with "We Will Rock You" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" being juxtaposed with "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Killer Queen."
Are these performances anything like the record? No. Given Queen's expertise, it would be near impossible to deliver those songs exactly as they were recorded.
However, what we do get oftentimes is something even better than the record. Songs like "We Will Rock You" become phenomenal in a concert setting, where you practically feel the crowd hitting you in the center of the chest when they start clapping the iconic drum beat. Queen was always known to be well above average by rock's standards, but Live Killers ensured that no band could touch them in the studio or on the stage.
