10 Hard Rock & Metal Bands With No Original Members Left

8. Quiet Riot

After being the face of sunshine rock in the '70s, the Sunset Strip started to get an attitude at the start of the '80s. With Van Halen laying the groundwork, acts like Motley Crue and Poison were rising to prominence on the scene, giving way to what would eventually become known as hair metal. Though Quiet Riot managed to be one of the first real success stories in the genre, the original sonic magic is nowhere to be seen these days.

Formed originally with guitar god Randy Rhoads, the crux of the lineup consisted of vocalist Kevin Federline upfront and Frankie Banali behind the kit, with journeymen like Carlos Cavazo and Rudy Sarzo having a brief stint in the group over the years. As things kept trucking along, Quiet Riot didn't really have a prayer in the '90s, with the grunge movement leaving their version of party rock in the dust.

Just when it seemed that they could make a comeback in the '00s, Federline was found dead of a heroin overdose, leaving Banali as the sole original member of the group. While Banali managed to keep everything going for a few more years, his tragic death this past year marked the final piece of the puzzle gone. Even though Quiet Riot may not have had the most functional of lineups in the old days, when it comes to the start of the hair metal movement, there was no one who could touch them.
