10 Hard Rock Music Covers You Wish Never Happened

1. About A Girl - Puddle Of Mud

When Patti Smith covered Smells Like Teen Spirit in 2007, she was aware of the sacred space Kurt Cobain's music had in the hearts of his fans, and treated the song with the reverence it deserved. This rendition of Nirvana's About A Girl, however, might have been well intended but damn did it feel like a parody.

Blowing up on YouTube back in 2020, it became a much needed but somewhat disturbing distraction from the Coronavirus pandemic.

The video garnered so much negative attention that it was removed by SiriusXM, only for it to be re-uploaded by several other sources. Puddle of Mud lead singer Wes Scantlin, by all other accounts, has a decent voice, but for whatever reason he completely missed the mark on this one.

Attempting to channel Kurt Cobain during the MTV Unplugged set, but only achieving in channeling an un-godly amount of phlegm onto his microphone.

It's another display of musicians suffering from an extreme lack of self-awareness, but the real victims of this unfortunate incident are Scantlin's band mates. Each are shown in the video, with expressions torn between amusement, embarrassment and the realisation that this performance might very well be the end of their careers.
