10 Hard Rock Music Videos That Got Banned

3. Girls, Girls, Girls - Motley Crue

Motley Crue decided to take a method approach to filming their video for Girls, Girls, Girls by actually going to a strip club and getting hammered. That must have been terrible for them...

The video was shot by Wayne Isham, a director who had previously worked with Styx, Bon Jovi, and, weirdly enough, Michael Bolton. Isham created a scene that summed up everything that the Crue stood for; motorcycles, switchblades, alcohol, and lots of women with very little on.

Barely ten seconds goes by without there being a shot of a near-naked lady up on stage doing her thing. The video is pure fantasy and unapologetically so, but some censors thought that its original cut went too far.

The director submitted a version of Girls, Girls, Girls to MTV that featured full-on topless dancers. To the surprise of no one, this was sent straight back, so Isham cleaned up the video and got it approved.

Well, he "cleaned it up" as much as he could whilst still having it set in a strip club. It's one of the raunchiest rock videos in the history of the 80s, but Girls, Girls, Girls was almost even more wild.
