10 Hard Rock Song Lyrics That Nobody Understands

8. A Mulatto, An Albino, A Mosquito, My Libido

Nirvana's 1991 break-out hit, Smells Like Teen Spirit, is considered by the public to be the band's magnum opus, but is seen by hardcore fans as one of the band's more radio-friendly, pop-influenced songs. In support of this, Kurt Cobain himself stated in a 1994 interview with Rolling Stone that he was trying to create "the ultimate pop song".

While Cobain may have failed in this endeavour and generated the go-to anthem for Generation X apathy, he nonetheless succeeded in creating a new grunge template with gruff, slurred, often barely comprehensible and confusing lyrics. This is best seen in the famously perplexing line 'A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido', which has had fans and critics over the years positing meanings that range from deep sexual frustration to a critique on white consumer culture.

Unfortunately, the truth is nowhere near as interesting, as Cobain confirmed that the lyrics are simply contrasting words that sound good together.
