10 Hard Rock Songs By Non-Hard Rock Artists

2. Bring It On Down - Oasis

Oasis have always been the go-to band for anyone who grew up in the mid-90's. The band's throwback sound became the face of Britpop as they notched up tunes like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova" onto the charts. However, the more raw side of the band was still present throughout their early days.

Though the Gallagher brothers wear their Beatles influence proudly on their sleeves, the band have also been outspoken about their admiration for the Sex Pistols. While the band's debut Definitely Maybe is littered with hits, "Bring It On Down" is the band's most forceful musical statement from their feeble beginnings. The snide pitch of Liam's voice is full of attitude as he plays off his brother's bludgeoning guitar riff. The main feature that gives the track its energy is the tom tom drums, whose whacked out sound the band developed over arduous recording sessions.

The tune floored label head Alan McGee and was slated to be the first single, but was quickly left by the wayside when Noel came to the band with the juggernaut "Supersonic." Even if it wasn't as big a hit, "Bring It On Down" is the song to show just how hard the Gallaghers could push themselves. It's punk rock, but with a Mancunian accent.
