10 Hard Rock Songs That Are Impossible To Understand
4. The Rage - Judas Priest
Plenty of metal lyrics have been able to defy your typical expectations. From the religious undercurrents in Black Sabbath's lyrics to the condemnation of war found on Metallica songs, there's a lot more to the heavier sides of rock that aren't just cause for death and destruction. However, for as many songs that are deeper than you think, you also get songs like the Rage by Judas Priest.
It almost feels wrong putting something like this on here, seeing as it comes from an all out classic like British Steel. As the song opens up, it also seems to be on level ground, as Rob Halford talks about being born from a fireball and looking to stomp out anything in his wake. A running start is only halfway there though, as Halford fills the rest of the lyric sheet out with vaguely badass terms that never seem to congeal into something worthwhile.
Despite even the diehard Priest faithful trying to decipher something, Halford has made it abundantly clear that the song doesn't really mean anything other than creating a badass sound, saying that he doesn't have a clue what he's singing about half of the time he plays this tune. While this might be a dark horse in Priest's catalog, when it comes to amazing lyrics, you might want to stick with Breaking the Law.
