10 Hated Rock Bands With One Amazing Album

And now we come to the band with one of the single stupidest band names in rock history. At a time when rock was actually having a bit of a resurgence on the radio, there were tons of great music that deserved more attention than hearing the Reason dwell on the same piano key over and over again. Just before we got more Hoobastank than anyone asked for, that first album showed a little bit of promise.

First thing right off the bat though, these guys aren't really subtle about their influences. When you listen to a lot of the songs on this record, you can definitely tell that Hoobastank wants to be a second rate version of Incubus, down to the spacey guitar sounds happening every once in a while and Doug Robb being a little bit on the high side for a rock singer.

For an Incubus descendent though, these guys pull it off surprisingly well, and even had a handful of hits show up on the alternative charts from time to time. It's not like they weren't earned either, with Crawling in the Dark being a fairly well constructed rock song and the rest of the album not being too shabby either. A nice first showing...even if we couldn't tell that the entire band was about to hit a creative brick wall in the next few years.
