10 Hated Rock Bands With One Amazing Album
6. My Own Prison - Creed
From the minute that the genre started, it was pretty clear that the whole concept of post grunge was a bit of a mistake. Even though we were still hurting from the old days of Kurt Cobain, having people like Seether come and attempt to do the sad style of rock and roll was not something anyone really needed. And while Creed is definitely the biggest punching bag of this genre, that debut record is a lot better than it has any right to be.
Long before the days of With Arms Wide Open and embarrassing music videos, this is actually a decent hard rock release for the band, with Scott Stapp avoiding his more cringe worthy tendencies. Even though songs like What's This Life For shows him laying on the Eddie Vedder worship a bit too much in his vocals, the tunes are actually good enough where you start to look past the little details.
If anything, this is one of the greatest showings from the band members of Creed than anything else they would release, with Mark Tremonti proving to all of us why we would be talking about him later down the line in Alter Bridge. Rock was definitely about to go through a rough patch with this subgenre, but it's albums like this that give us hope that not all of it has to be that bad.
