10 Hated Rock Songs That Are Actually Really Good
1. One More Light - Linkin Park
For most Linkin Park fans, it's a shame that they had to close out a chapter of their legacy with the album One More Light. Since Chester Bennington took his own life a few months after the album was released, this felt more like a sad epitaph from a band that was known for much heavier stuff back in the day. In between the poppier melodies though, we did get one final wave goodbye from Chester on the title track.
Being dedicated to someone at their record label who passed away, this is the kind of song that hits a lot different now that Chester is no longer with us. While these lyrics may have been written by Mike Shinoda at some points, Chester bears his soul on this song, fighting as hard as he can to make sure that that one light never fades away while he's here.
And if you're even slightly emotional when it comes to music, you almost need a content warning before going into watching the music video for this song, where Chester plays this song in a sea of lights surrounding him, almost like he's playing this song from the other side of existence. This was meant to be a song of hope though, and we should follow Chester's lead and appreciate the way that we live day after day. We miss you Chester, and we'll make sure to keep that light burning for as long as we can.
