10 Hated Rock Songs That Are Actually Really Good

9. Someday Never Comes - CCR

When you're talking about the classic period of great Creedence music, most of the hits tend to dry up the minute that you hit Mardi Gras. As the band started to flame out, this entire record feels like it was released kicking and screaming, with very little to show for it in some of the deep cuts. While we can all collectively cringe at a song like Door to Door though, John Fogerty had one more ace up his sleeve to close off his CCR years.

Since most of John's songs stick out like a sore thumb on this album, Someday Never Comes is a pleasant surprise halfway through the record, taking the kind of downtempo style of something like Have You Ever Seen the Rain and applying it to John's relationship with his father back in the day. Seeing how he was also going through a separation from his wife at the time, the title is also a pretty tragic mentality, where he's hoping to save something that is on the verge of collapse.

That's all of the relief that you're going to get out of this record though, with most of it sounding either like they were contractually obligated to make it or Stu Cook and Doug Clifford trying to fumble their way into writing a song. For all of the spotty tracks on this record, this is the kind of sendoff that a band like CCR should have really gotten.
