10 Heaviest Slipknot Anthems So Far
2. Spit It Out
Taking one final look at Slipknot’s incredible self-titled album, we come to Spit It Out. With a liberal use of turntables and an almost hip-hop-esque vocal style on the verses, this is a stand-out track on their first record. It does a fantastic job of incorporating the nu-metal sounds of the era, whilst still remaining entirely unique in its own right.
Not only is this a great song, but it’s accompanied by a video that’s sure to send a shiver running down the viewer’s spine. In this video, Slipknot offer their take on The Shining, with the band recreating some of the film’s iconic scenes. It’s well known that The Shining wasn’t already creepy enough, so the inclusion of Slipknot masks was a welcome addition to Stephen King’s work.
However, by far the biggest reason for Spit It Out to claim a spot so high up this list, is its legacy as a live piece. It doesn’t matter which Slipknot concert you go to, Spit It Out is always the talking point of the evening.
With Corey commanding the audience to get on the ground for the final verse, having them, “jump the f**k up,” in unison at the end, it’s one of many reasons a Slipknot show is so unforgettable.
