10 Heaviest Slipknot Anthems So Far
3. Duality
“I push my fingers into my eyes.”
Chills. Chills every time.
This one opening line to Slipknot’s Duality is by far the loudest moment at any of their live shows. Arguably the band’s most widely known single, audiences everywhere belt this song back toward the stage with sheer ferocity as Corey’s vocals are met by the rest of the band and this behemoth of a song kicks in.
For many, Duality was an introduction to Slipknot. Still being a rather heavy track, the melodic intro and cleaner vocals in the chorus made it more accessible than most of the singles on Self-Titled and Iowa.
As mentioned previously, Vol. 3, which released three years after Iowa, was somewhat of a reinvention of Slipknot as a band, with considerably more experimentation than previously.
That being said, the band has never lost its signature sound. Duality is yet another superb combination of old and new, with the catchy sing-along vocals being complimented by the raw Slipknot backing that makes this band so special.
Corey Taylor has also mentioned that Duality was Paul Gray’s favourite song to perform. This gives an additional emotional weight to an already phenomenal single and a staple of any Slipknot concert.
