10 Hidden Details You Never Noticed In Hard Rock Songs

2. Rocket Queen - Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses pretty much had an instant classic on their hands with Appetite for Destruction. In just under an hour, the band had created the unofficial diary of the street rat life, from the delicate dreams of "Paradise City" to the urban angst of "Welcome to the Jungle." The track list was already killer, but the band had to go the extra mile to really bring the album to a close.

While "Rocket Queen" was a good way to end things, the band thought it would be interesting to actually have a female's voice on the track as the titular Rocket Queen. In one of the most awkward instances of betrayal in a rock band, the sounds of the Rocket Queen are actually provided by drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend, who is heard having sex with frontman Axl Rose on the final master.

Storming off on Adler after a heated argument, Rose asked her to come to the studio, where they ended up getting a little too comfortable on the studio floor as tape rolled.

For as icky as the backstory is, it ended up being exactly what the song needed, with the cries going great with the song's breakdown. "Rocket Queen" would have been a great song regardless of vocal assistance, but sometimes the best material comes from a much more carnal place.
