10 Hidden Songs You Didn't Know Were On Albums
1. Nirvana - Sappy
Most people know about Endless, Nameless being the hidden track on Nervermind however the Seattle world changers have another classic hidden song in the form of Sappy. The song was released as a hidden track in the No Alternative compilation album produced to raise money for the AIDS benefit.
Sappy was initially released under the title ‘Verse Chorus Verse’ but has reverted back to its initial title since being rereleased as part of the Nirvana rarities box set With the Lights Out. Versions of the song also appear on the In Utero 20th Anniversary edition as well as the deluxe version of Nevermind. Under the name Verse Chorus Verse it was even proposed to be the 12th song on the band’s third and final album In Utero preceding All Apologies.
The song has become an underrated Nirvana classic in the eyes of many of its fans with even bassist Krist Novoselic mentioning how much the band enjoyed playing the song, especially as he loved playing the bass line. Unsurprisingly, the inclusion on Sappy helped raise a lot of money for the No Alternatives compilation and remains a firm favourite for many fans.
