7. The Blarney Stone - Ween
If there were any justice in the world, the Ween brothers would be getting some sort of royalty for everything that went on in Spongebob Squarepants. While the rest of us '00s kids know this band for the classic song Ocean Man, their entire concept album the Mollusk was the inspiration for Steve Hillenburg to create our favorite sea sponge back in the day. You can practically see an episode of the show coming out in every song, but the Blarney Stone is where we see the first arrival of Mr. Krabs.
Though Ween have always been known to think outside the box for a lot of their songs, this is a straight up sea shanty with the band getting more and more sloshed as it goes on. Even in the grand tradition of song intros, the opening line of "get off my ass you wee bitty f*ck" is enough to make people turn their heads when they hear it. The Mr. Krabs crack wasn't a jab either, with the scurvy accent of the pirate in this song having the same cadence that Clancy Brown would use for the Krusty Krab's manager.
Most of this record might not make too much sense when you break everything down, but that was always the beauty behind Ween's music. You may not be able to put all the pieces together, and you don't have to when the music keeps you engaged like this.
