The Album: After being discovered by Dr. Dre, Eminem released the Slim Shady LP, an album from the perspective of Slim Shady, his sadistic violent alter ego. One year later we saw the other side of Eminem in the Marshall Mathers LP.

Though still perverse and insane at times it offered us a look into Eminem's mind especially on the introspective and thoughtful "Stan." This album proved that there was more to Eminem than sex violence and humorous dirty wordplay.

The Marshall Mathers LP also silenced many of his doubters and laid the groundwork for his legacy as one of the few white rappers who's talent transcends the stigma of "the white rapper."

Despite struggling with those constraints early in his career, many current rappers such as Kendrick Lamar count him as one of their biggest influences.
