The Album: Widely considered Tupac's magnum opus, All Eyez on Me was released in 1996 at the peak of rap's East vs West feud. Doing his part for the West Coast Tupac delivers a brilliant mix of thug reality, party jams, and personal philosophy.

After several strong efforts, this is the album that put Tupac on hip-hops Mt. Rushmore. All Eyez on Me ended up selling more than 10 million copies in the United States alone making it one of the best selling rap albums of all time.

Standout Track: California Love (Honorable Mention: Ambitionz Az a Ridah, How Do U Want It)

If You Dig This, Check Out: Get Rich or Die Tryin'- 50 Cent. Though obviously not on the same level as Tupac, 50 cent is the most logical continuation of the thug rap style that Tupac perfected.

After a lull in the gangster influence in hip-hop, 50 cent brought toughness back to rap in 2003. Though definitely a new century take on thug rap, the simple catchy beats and aggressive attitude of Get Rich or Die Tryin' should sound familiar to fans of All Eyez on Me.
