10 Hip Hop Songs With Surprising Samples

4. Kendrick Lamar's "Money Trees" Samples "Silver Soul" By Beach House

At this point, is there a more respected and celebrated new-ish rapper on the scene than the talented Kendrick Lamar? The Dr. Dre protege has arguably the most highly-anticipated album of 2015 and for good reason too. His first studio album, Good kid, M.A.A.D City is a certified hip hop classic already and it's because of great songs like Money Trees. Lamar raps about the life he knows on the song, being a poor kid in California who isn't afraid to rob someone who has more means than him due to his dream of living like the rappers he idolizes. It's got a strange, trippy sound to it which would put a lot of MC's off from rapping on it but not Lamar. To be fair, it makes sense that it would sound this way considering a main portion of the song is taken from Silver Soul by dream pop duo Beach House. At first, you may not be able to hear the sample clearly but listen closely and you'll see how the song's producer, DJ Dahi, sped up the tempo of the track to create one of the best tracks on an already stellar album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtxmnBQmfZs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njbmwfndFH4
