10 Hip Hop Songs With Surprising Samples

3. Wiz Khalifa's "The Thrill" Samples "Walking On A Dream" By Empire Of The Sun

What happens when you take the most chilled out rapper in hip hop right now and use one of the biggest hits of Summer 2009 as a sample for one of his songs? If you guessed, "Pure Awesomeness" then give yourself a cookie you clever person because that's exactly what happened. Khalifa is known for having a laid back flow, which he has used to perfection over the last few years, but the problem with having a flow like that is that it can become monotonous if it doesn't have the right beat behind it. Luckily, this time it's used to perfection as there aren't many beats that have complimented his style of rapping quite like this one did. From the aptly titled mixtape Burn After Rolling (if you didn't know Mr. Khalifa likes to smoke the reefer quite a bit), Wiz doesn't really do too much over the beat besides from loop the track and keep a few of the key vocal elements. However, what he left in was just enough for people to be pleasantly surprised at how good he sounds on the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-AX1ugKiaY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eimgRedLkkU
