10 Hits You Didn't Realise Sampled Other Songs

1. Loaded - Primal Scream

Another era-defining hit, Scottish rock band Primal Scream's Loaded, released in 1990 as the lead single from their third studio album, Screamadelica, reached the top twenty in the US and the UK, and remains an incredibly popular signifier of the times.

Two distinctive elements of Loaded are sampled. The start of the song features a clip of dialogue taken from 1966 movie, The Wild Angels, with actor Peter Fonda famously declaring "we want to get loaded, and we want to have a good time.”

Immediately following that clip, the song's famous horn riff blasts over another vocal sample, this time the refrain “I don't want to lose your love,” a sung segment which repeats at various points throughout the track.

That phrase is sampled from Best Of My Love, a 1977 song which was a bit hit for American group, The Emotions, reaching number one in the US on both the Billboard and R&B charts, and number five in the UK. It stems from the group's fourth studio album, Rejoice, and garnered the band a prestigious Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance.
