10 Horrible Hard Rock Songs By Great Artists

From Classics to Crap.

Green Day Dos
Reprise

Any musician prides themselves on consistency. Even if a band switches up their style from one album to the next, the goal is always to make sure you're pumping out quality material to any audience that you're catering too. While many bands have kept a flawless track record, no one can be perfect all the time.

From pop punk to grunge rock, every band has that one song that the fanbase doesn't really like to talk about. Whether it's because of a change in style or a bastardization of their old sound, some songs have had fans trying to erase their notes from memory. But why exactly are they so hated? Well...nobody can have a perfect career, but these tunes just ended up being a bit of crap in between the better cuts.

Some of these songs aren't even all that bad, but the fact that the band themselves doesn't like them have soured the song's reputation over time. No matter how much lifesblood you put into your work, you're bound to slip up sooner or later, but some music legends have had cringey songs they've had to live with for the rest of their lives. They may have had a few classics, but this is far from their shining moments.

10. Pea - Red Hot Chili Peppers

One Hot Minute by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of the more overlooked entries in the band's catalog. Though the album has garnered a reputation as one of the band's most uninspired efforts due to the loss of John Frusciante, the addition of Dave Navarro and darker lyrical twists actually give the listener a lot more to work with. However, if there's one thing that you shouldn't do, it's leave Flea in the studio by himself.

Make no mistake, Flea is an astounding bass player, which is shown throughout the album. He even has a few decent chops when it comes to songwriting, considering his mammoth contributions to the closing track "Transcending," but the fact that "Pea" exists just seems like a little mess that somehow found its way onto the album.

The song is charming for what it is, but the idea of Flea just plucking on his bass while pretending to be a pea is one of those things that you didn't really need to know existed, especially come after classic Peppers cuts like "Aeroplane" and "My Friends." Flea may be a god amongst rock musicians, but that doesn't mean every single he touched turned to gold on principle.
