10. Love Shack - The B-52's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8NhJNpQlsY First of all, I had no idea this song was from the late 1980's! To me it felt like a much older song, but I admit I was wrong. This song is attached to the decade of the 80s but is remembered fondly by many. In addition it has also been declared one of the best songs of the 20th century and even placed on the Rolling Stone's list of the greatest songs ever. All of that praise for a song that doesn't really make any sense. I mean does anyone fully comprehend what a 'Love Shack' actually is? The track truly reinvigorated the career of the B-52's, who had been waning since a peak in popularity during the early 1980s. Love Shack stands alone from the B-52s though, but the cultural impact of the song is widespread. The band actually re-recorded a parody version of the song in 1999 for an episode of The Simpsons, showing just how huge it has become. It is a song that we always remember, but sometimes wish we could forget.
