10 Huge Songs That Bands Refused To Play Live

6. Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O’Connor

Let's get the whole "Did you know this was written Prince?" thing out of the way nice and early.

Okay? Good.

Sinead O'Connor put her breathy spin on the song in 1990 and it is still considered her signature tune. The Irish singer delivers the notes with a power and pain that could resonate with even the most hardened cynics and the song is as popular today as it ever was.

Despite all of this, O'Connor took to Facebook in 2015 to announce she was finished with it.

Speaking directly to her fans, she said, "After 25 years of singing it, nine months or so ago I finally ran out of anything I could use in order to bring some emotion to it."

"I don't want audiences to be disappointed coming along to a show and then not hearing it, so (I) am letting you know here that you won't."

No offence to the lady, but just asking your fans not to be disappointed isn't the same as not disappointing them. It's your biggest hit!

She did revive the song in 2019, but that was a scary couple of years for the O'Connor superfans.
