2. Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK7egZaT3hs Quite possibly the biggest and best band to come out of Britain in the 21st Century, Arctic Monkeys buried landfill indie in 2006 with this witty story of a night out in Sheffield. Alex Turner immediately cemented himself as one of the best lyricists of his generation and the Monkeys became an overnight sensation all from a song that has the audacity to make a Duran Duran reference in the modern era. Immediately shooting to number one, the song paved the way for more success for the Sheffield band, with every one of their studio albums going straight to the top of the charts on release. Theres no denying it, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor is responsible for the MySpace Generation of bands - its now become easier for bands to get recognition online and its all thanks to one band and one song. Of course, Arctic Monkeys have gone on to bigger and better things with their most recent album AM and a headline slot at Glastonbury Festival becoming the apex of their career thus far, but they admit they still get a kick out of playing their anthem. Long may it continue. Choice Lyric: Your name isnt Rio but I dont care for sand / and lighting the fuse might result in a bang
