James Murphy name-checks some of the most influential bands ever, such as Suicide, Can and the Beach Boys while asserting to his listener that I was there. This song blew people away back in 2002 because nobody had heard anything like it before. LCD Soundsystem had become the coolest band to come out of New York since Blondie and everyone wanted to claim that they had heard them first. Over the course of three brilliant albums, James Murphys band had become one of the most influential groups of the 21st Century and it all started with 8 minutes of dance-punk brilliance. LCD Soundsystem said an emotional goodbye with a mammoth 3 hour show at Madison Square Garden in 2011 but their music will always be fondly remembered and danced to for years to come although we wouldnt mind hearing it live one more time!
