10 Incredible Michael Jackson Songs You've Probably Never Heard

5. Working Day And Night - Off The Wall

Michael's colossal run during the '80s was far greater than just a handful of catchy tunes. From the crystal clean production to the amazing arrangement choices, these records would become the foundation for what modern pop would become, whether you see it in Drake, Kanye, or Ariana Grande. Though Off the Wall is a little rough around the edges, this is a dance record with Michael in his element.

Growing into his adult pop icon persona, Working Day and Night is a great retro throwback from the time before the '80s really turned into the neon colored party that we know today. Across the track, we see Jacko jumping on the disco hype train with electric results, riding the beat with a certain swagger that would have made Chic proud. You can definitely see the little boy from the Jackson 5 in here, but the transformation into the pop juggernaut we know and love was being born in this stage.

As opposed to the more thoughtful instrumentation that appears on other records, this sounds like Jackson and his band cutting loose in the studio, with a beat that would sound amazing in a dance club. Disco may have been on the way out, but Working Day and Night does help put a definitive exclamation point on its golden age.
