9. Oasis "Wonderwall"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hzrDeceEKc Oasis achieved monumental success in the United Kingdom right out of the gate with 1994's "Definitely Maybe" becoming the fastest-selling debut album in history. However, it took the band until 1995's "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" to really catch on with the American crowd. The song that drove the bulk of the transatlantic success was "Wonderwall," an acoustic ballad with a somber string arrangement and a silly title borrowed from a film that George Harrison had scored in 1968. "Wonderwall" ended up becoming a massive hit and remains a jukebox favourite to this day. However, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has gone as far as to claim that the song makes him gag, and has even expressed a desire to fight his American fans who come to concerts in hopes of hearing it. Liam's brother Noel, who actually wrote the song, is slightly fonder of it, though even he has hinted that he prefers the haunting Ryan Adams cover from 2003 to the original.
