10 Indie Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row

7. The Strokes

By the time the '00s had rolled around, the rock world found itself in the same place it was at the tail end of the hair metal movement. Though genres like nu-metal were still thriving, there was no real substance for anyone to really latch onto anymore. The entire rock world needed a kick, and they certainly got one from these five slackers from Manhattan.

Hitting the ground running, The Strokes pretty much had their nervy punk energy down to a science on their album Is This It, which still holds up as one of the freshest sounding debut albums ever made. Even though Room On Fire was just a satisfying rerun of the band's old tricks, it got even more impossible when they expanded beyond their traditional roles.

Going into recording First Impressions of Earth, the band ended up bringing many different influences to the table, which made for another handful of great tunes. As albums like Angles and Comedown Machine arrived, the band managed to still keep that jittery spark while staying a bit below the radar than usual. Though the band may always live in the shadow of their perfect debut, any of these albums, as well as their latest offering The New Abnormal, don't seem to be disappointing anyone any time soon.
