10 Indie Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row
5. Twenty One Pilots
Anyone who's ever listened to the radio, Spotify, or general music in the past five years can probably hum you the bars of a few Twenty One Pilots songs. The band has gone from being one of the best-kept secrets in the indie sphere to the global superstars we know today. Even as far back as their debut, this duo has struck gold with almost everything they've touched.
While their self-titled debut saw them coming into their own with stellar musicianship, Regional At Best marked the start of the band embracing pop tendencies and dark subject matters. Some of the tracks ended up being so good on Regional At Best that they included them again on Vessel, which ended up being one of the most cohesive experiences they've ever made.
Once they got onto a big label though, the band started to aim much higher, with Blurryface and Trench being grand conceptual pieces revolving around struggles with one's emotions. Blurryface may have a more radio-friendly surface, but Trench shows them embracing everything from Gorillaz to MGMT to flesh out their sound. Even the band's one-off song "Heathens" shined brighter than almost anything else in Suicide Squad. Twenty One Pilots might be more pop-centric nowadays than their beginnings, but don't let that trick you into thinking this music isn't still amazing.
